Feeling ill?

Am I sick? Dear lord please NO!!! I was just sick back in July when I first learned I was pregnant and whatever I had lasted about 3 weeks, I’m praying that what ever this is, is just me being over tired and stressed. I didn’t take any medicine and purchased all natural throat lozenges, but then had a fear that those weren’t safe so stopped using them. I resorted to water and tea and an elixir of apple cider vinegar with lemon and honey. The sickness was awful as it was constant sneezing and coughing and feeling like I had been hit by a mac truck! And now… I feel it coming on again and with only 3 days before my half marathon. I’m already freaking out about it and now a cold? Please no! If you are also pregnant you have probably wrestled with getting sick and fears of what to take or not to take and when you should visit the doctor.  I have been researching and asking friends what they think and the consensus is to not take antibiotics during pregnancy. I haven’t wanted to, but this just confirms how I have been feeling. The question then begs, what is safe to take and what potential risk are you posing to your child? Below is a list from the Women’s Health Specialists of Fremont, CA website. It lists a number of things that are claiming to be safe during pregnancy, but at the bottom in bold it reads,

Please note, no drug can be considered 100% safe to use during pregnancy.

womens health specialistsI think I’m just going to go back to using my homemade natural elixir of apple cider vinegar. lemon, honey and water. It’s not the yummiest tasting of beverages, but it seems to keep the throat well coated and if anything it can be a placebo for me to believe I’m getting better. Oh a  happier note I’ve been looking at nursery furniture and found a bassinet I like :) It’s gender neutral and goes with the furniture I already own.

There is a changing table that goes with this that I really like as well and I’m so happy that I’ve been to many baby showers! I don’t feel bad asking for these things :)

Cross your fingers that I feel better tomorrow and definitely on race day! Let the hydration and carb loading begin!
